Note, the setup files on this page are for the old Windmill 4.3 with LabIML software. This has been superceded by the new Windmill 7 software, currently reduced from £145 to £50 and available from our data acquisition catalogue. See instead the example settings for serial instruments used with Windmill 7. This free software package includes COMIML, a universal driver for serial instruments. With Windmill and COMIML you can connect almost any ASCII instrument with an RS232 serial port, to Windows software like Excel. Windmill also includes free logging, charting and output control programs. When you are configuring your serial instrument, you will need to tell Windmill the settings recommended by your manufacturer. You then save these settings in a file. It may be that someone has already used your make of instrument with Windmill, and so has saved the correct settings. With their setting files you can be instantly up and running. To this end we're compiling a setup library. If you would like to contribute please fill in the form at the bottom of this page. Setup File LibraryNote: These setup files work with an older version of our software, not our new RS232 driver software for Windows 7.Select a zip file and save to disk. Unzip the setup files into your Windmill folder. Each instrument has an *.aid file. This contains its message transmitting and decoding settings. The download might also include a *.ims file. This contains details such as channel names, engineering units and measurement type. To load the files follow the instructions in the readme.txt file. Should you have any problems downloading and using the files, please see our FAQ.

Please send us your Setup FilesTo expand this free library we need your setup files. The files are text files and only contain information about your instrument. They contain nothing that can identify you, nor anything else about your system. If you wish we're happy to place a link back to your web site in the library, as an acknowledgement of your contribution. You can either fill in this form, or e-mail us the files. Please send your *.aid file and, optionally, your *.ims file (both found in your Windmill folder). |
