Energy Monitoring

Windmill Software is currently monitoring renewable energy generation and usage at an experimental site in Leicester (UK).

The site comprises:

• two wind turbine generators
• a sewage treatment facility
• a solar panel array

Gas and Power meters around the site are monitored by Microlink data acquisition and control hardware. The Windmill Microlink driver communicates with the hardware and switches alarm warnings to different buildings. Another Windmill driver, the LabIML multi-port serial driver, communicates with the wind turbine controllers.

Windmill's Logger program collects data. It records the power generated, the power used on-site and the power supplied into the grid, as well as turbine status information. A Windmill process mimic displays a map of the site showing on-line values of power generation and usage.
